Bawumia donates GHS 200,000 to Yagbonwura Education Fund
Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated a cash amount of GHS 200,000 to the Yagbonwura Biikunuto Jewu Soale educational fund which was launched during the 2024 annual Yagbon Damba festival in Damongo on Monday 23rd September 2024.
Savannah Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana a.k.a Prof Kalamonia with the leadership of the NPP in the Savannah Region presented the cash amount to the overlord of the Gonja Kingdom on behalf of the Vice President and indicated that the Dr Bawumia has much interest in the growth of education in the Savannah Region especially for the needy but brilliant students.
He said the Free SHS by the NPP government is currently benefitting 1000s of the children of Ghana and had seen more of the Ghanaian youth of school-going age
Alhaji Sulemana also on behalf of the Finance Minister and MP for Karaga, Mr Mohammed Amin Adam (Anta) donated another Ghc100,000 to the Biikunu Educational Fund.
Yagbonwura Biikunuto Jewu Soale I had set up a 5- year strategic plan to serve as a comprehensive blueprint to guide the Gonja Kingdom's development over the next five years which includes the establishment of an educational fund to provide scholarships for the poor and the needy.
The educational fund was launched during the program which saw many sons and daughters contributing immensely on the first day of its launch.
