2023 placement portal for STEM SHSs opened

The Ministry of Education (MoE), Ghana Education Service (GES), Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Service, Free Senior High School Secretariat (FSHS) and Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) have announced the opening of the 21st Century Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) school placement portal.
Students interested in pursuing strictly STEM programmes will, therefore, be required to visit www.sten-ssp.com.gh to select their preferred schools and corresponding programmes.
According to the MoE, "choices made using this portal will take precedence over initial selections."
The portal, gives students access to the list of new STEM Senior High Schools included in the 2023 School selection and placement process.
It further provides information on available STEM programmes as well as their career pathways.
The portal also provides details on Senior High Schools which would be offering STEM programmes for the 2023 academic year.
Meanwhile, the verification of students’ school choices for awaiting Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) result candidates has already taken place. This forms part of the school placement exercise.
“This verification process is to ensure accuracy in students’ choice information before they are Placed in their selected Second Cycle schools,” the GES said in a statement.
The exercise which began on Saturday, 14 January 2023, ended on Sunday, 22 January 2023.
