Inciting galamseyers against police soldiers: NPP's Wassa Amenfi East parliamentary candidate granted bail
Mr Ernest Frimpong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Wassa Amenfi East, has been released by the Tarkwa Police Command following an interrogation over remarks he made in a viral video.
Mr Frimpong was detained after the video surfaced, showing him allegedly encouraging miners to retaliate against police officers and soldiers who extort money from them.
After taking his statement, the police released him on Wednesday evening (12 June 2024).
In response to the controversy, Mr Frimpong clarified that his comments were misinterpreted during a lengthy discussion with artisanal small-scale miners.
He emphasised that he did not intend to incite violence against law enforcement.
