Armed robbers shoot MoMo vendor at Amanfrom
A 34-year-old Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, Famous Fiagbe, is fighting for his life at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital after being shot by two armed robbers on Tuesday night.
The robbery occurred at Amanfrom American Down in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra, where the attackers escaped with GHS 120,000 and several mobile phones.
According to police reports, the robbers, who were on a motorbike, ambushed Fiagbe shortly after he closed his shop around 10:00 p.m.
Favour Dikah, the victim’s mother, in an interview, recounted the traumatic event.
She witnessed the robbers shoot her son while demanding his bag and the money.
"They fired more than five bullets before taking the bag with the money and fleeing the scene," she said.
Appealing to the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Madam Dikah called for swift action to apprehend the suspects, stressing that the stolen money did not belong to her son.
She also revealed that the stolen phones contained significant sums of mobile money.
The police are actively investigating the case.
