The Kumasi City Market Traders Union (KCMTU) has exposed alleged activities and mischievous acts by the Combined Kejetia Traders Association, branding them as greedy, selfish, and hypocritical.

The KCMTU members warned the Combined Kejetia Traders Association to stop portraying themselves as the leaders of Kejetia Market, which they claim is not the case.

The KCMTU's revelations come in response to a recent press conference held by the Combined Kejetia Traders Association, which blamed and called for the removal of the Kejetia management and some queen mothers.

‘’The Combined Kejetia Traders Association also alleged the misappropriation of approximately three hundred thousand Ghana Cedis donated by Dr. Bawumia to fire victims.

In their statement dated Jully 2 2024 and signed by Michael Adu Gyamfi, said  the KCMTU, representing over six thousand traders, aimed to correct what they described as erroneous impressions created by the Combined Kejetia Traders Association.

They accused the Combined Kejetia Traders Association of engaging in dubious damage control efforts through fake press conferences.

The KCMTU highlighted several key issues: KCMTU condemned the Combined Kejetia Traders Association's attacks on Chairman Kwabena Ankrah and the market queens, describing them as baseless and unjustifiable

They questioned the legitimacy of the Combined Kejetia Traders Association's role in market space allocation, accusing them of benefiting directly from initial plans and now crying foul.

KCMTU demanded a proper audit of the funds donated by Dr. Bawumia, challenging the authenticity of the beneficiary list provided by the Combined Kejetia Traders Association.

KCMTU declared their unwavering support for Chairman Kwabena Ankrah, whom they regard as the genuine leader with the backing of the majority of traders and stakeholders, including market queens.

They dismissed the allegations against him as senseless and unsubstantiated, pledging full commitment to his leadership.

Furthermore,  KCMTU posed critical questions to the Combined Kejetia Traders Association, questioning their leadership legitimacy, their achievements, and their involvement in market space allocations.

They also challenged the association to justify their exclusion of Chairman Kwabena Ankrah from the team supervising the money allocation.

In conclusion, KCMTU called for transparency and proper auditing of the funds intended for fire victims, insisting that the Combined Kejetia Traders Association must prove their innocence and credibility.
