Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has been directed to suspend all new recruits appointed by former President Nana Akufo-Addo in November 2024.
This was contained in a letter dated February 11, 2025, addressed to GWCL Head Office Chief Managers, Regional Chief Managers, and Unit Heads.
"This serves as a formal directive regarding the appointments made in November 2024. It has been decided to suspend new recruits who were appointed in November 2024 and posted to your respective regions and who are not on the payroll as at January 2025," the letter said.
"This is to allow for an assessment of the situation and a comprehensive audit of the process leading to the engagement," the letter explained.
Signed by Acting Managing Director of the GWCL, Adam Mutawakilu, the letter ended, "Management will issue further directives whne the need arises. Kindly communicate this to the individuals concerned."
