Energy Ministry: John A. Jinapor perfect to lead for 'renewed focus' to surmount power challenges – IPGG

The Independent Power Generators, Ghana (IPGG) has expressed its gladness over the presidential nomination and “successful vetting” of John Abdulai Jinapor to lead the Ministry for Energy & Green Transition.

“Jinapor's extensive experience in Ghana's energy sector and commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability and efficiency have been evident in during the vetting,” the IPGG said in a statement dated Monday, January 13, 2025, signed by its CEO, Dr Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor.

“As a critical stakeholder in the energy industry, we are confident his leadership will bring a renewed focus and drive toward addressing the challenges confronting the power sector,” the IPGG emphasised.

Meanwhile, members of the IPGG are: Aksa Energy, Amandi Energy, Cenit Energy, Cenpower Generations, Early Power, Karpowership Ghana, Meienergy, BXC and Sunon Asogli Power.

1. The Independent Power Generators, Ghana (IPGG) extends our warmest congratulations on your nomination by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana and successful vetting as the Minister for Energy and Green Transition.

2. Hon. Jinapor's extensive experience in Ghana's energy sector and commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability and efficiency have been evident in during the vetting. As a critical stakeholder in the energy industry, we are confident his leadership will bring a renewed focus and drive toward addressing the challenges confronting the power sector.

3. The role of the Minister for Energy is vital, especially at a time when the nation is seeking to enhance efficiency in distribution, and to reduce debts in the energy sector. We believe that Hon.
