Development: The years of neglect end with my administration – Mahama promises people of Volta

During his brand new tenure, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to end the trend of empty promises made by successive governments to the people of the Volta Region.
Addressing the chiefs and people of the region in a colourful ceremony, the president expressed his deep commitment to ensuring the region finally received its fair share of national development during his administration.
The president assured Voltarians of infrastructure projects and social interventions aimed at transforming and fostering the economic growth of the region.
Reaffirming his key promises, he mentioned the rehabilitation of the Ho-Denu road, an international road which enables travel and trade.
He also pledged to complete the long-awaited Eastern Corridor Road projects.
Additionally, President Mahama assured residents of his commitment to revamping the Ho airport, and enhancing its capacity to attract tourism and business opportunities to the region.
He noted preparations were underway for the commencement of an aviation training school in the region, also.
The president, speaking during his Thank You Tour which started in the Volta region, Friday January 24, 2025, in the regional capital Ho, mentioned his plans to extend the Keta Sea Defence Project and develop the Keta Port, both of which are expected to protect coastal communities and create avenues for maritime trade.
He also assured victims of the Akosombo-Kpong dam spillage they would be duly compensated for their losses.
Concerning education, the president promised to transform the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) into a world-class tertiary institution and upgrade the Ohawu Agricultural College to a full tertiary status.
To further enhance the region’s development, he announced plans to expand water supply projects and revitalise agricultural activities, aiming to secure food sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods.
President Mahama underscored the role of sports and education in national development, too, pledging to invest in infrastructure to nurture talent and inspire the youth.
He urged Ghanaians and the people of the Volta region to continue to rally behind him for a successful tenure which he campaigned would reset Ghana for the good of all citizens.
On their part, the chiefs and people of the Volta region pledged their support for the president’s vision to foster development and address long-standing challenges.
