Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on Ghanaians to strictly follow legal procedures when applying for passports, cautioning against the use of middlemen, commonly known as “goro boys.”

Speaking during a media engagement at the Ministry on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa emphasised that applicants do not need intermediaries to access passport services.

He urged citizens to deal directly with officials of the Ministry for a transparent and efficient process.

“You do not need a middleman. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will serve you with honesty and diligence.

Our goal is to make the passport application experience pleasant, straightforward, and convenient,” he assured.

The Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing reforms aimed at streamlining passport acquisition, including the upcoming launch of chip-embedded passports, the introduction of 24-hour passport services, courier delivery options, and reduced application fees.

Mr. Ablakwa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to upholding integrity and efficiency in public service delivery, encouraging the public to report any attempts at extortion or fraud within the passport application system.
