An open letter to Ernest Addison

Feature Article
Dr Ernest Addisson

Dear Dr Addison

RESIGN AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE AS GOVERNOR OF THE BANK OF GHANA FOR YOU DO NOT SHARE THE VISION OF JOHN MAHAMA

I trust this letter finds you well. It is my fervent opinion that as a matter of principle,  resign as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana just as Dr Abdul Nashiru Issahaku did in March 2017 when the NDC lost power.

You were appointed by HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo in March 2017 when Dr Nashiru Issahaku resigned as Governor of the Central Bank when he had spent only one year in office as Governor after succeeding Dr Henry Kofi Wampah in April 2016.

Dr Nashiru Isaahaku's resignation I believe was based on principle because there was a change of government and sure did not believe the principle of the president at the time.

Your appointment was because the president then believed in you to help him succeed as president and your achievement at the bank has really made me believe you were brought in by your appointor so you could print monies to help his government in times of need which you executed well.

I do not understand why you still holding on to your appointment when the party that brought you to execute their agenda has left power.

The people of Ghana have witnessed your leadership at the bank since March 2017 and we remember how the bank made a loss of over Sixty billion in a single year. Your policy rate of over 27 percent and your revocation of licenses of Banks.

John Dramani Mahama is not voted to close banks as well as cause high inflation as a result of illegally printing currencies.

Your continue stay in government will be a sabotage to the economy in my own opinion.

Dr Nashiru Abdul Issahaku has set the precedent and I believe is a good one for you to follow same.

I do not want to write to his Excellency the President to initiate your removal to give the opposition party something to discuss, just resign, my little counsel sir.

The likes of Sammy Awuku and others have tendered in their resignation based on principle and not sure they were incompetent.

They never believe in the vision of Mahama and in my opinion same applies to you.

There are other economists in the country or experience bankers who can equally do the job and in my opinion better than you have done in these 8 years as Governor.

If you want to stay in power I shall petition the president to remove you from office through all legal means and we will accept to pay E-Levy and Betting Tax to foot all costs the state will incur although I am against paying the E-Levy and Betting tax.

In our local adage, " A word to a wise is enough"

Thanks and I don't hate you for writing this but of a firm opinion that you should resign on the matter of Principle.
