“From rhythms that resonate to stories that connect, music proves to be a universal language uniting people across continents.
“Here at Howard University during the "return conversation," I delved into the powerful discourse on 'the role of music and culture in bridging the gap between the global Diaspora and Africa’,” Samini wrote.
He also tagged the Ghana Tourism Authority and Beyond The Return offices.
In the attached photos, filmmaker and the Director of Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture (NCC), Socrates Safo, was spotted. The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman was also present at Samini's address.
August 2019 marked 400 years since enslaved Africans arrived in the United States. The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government of Ghana, together with the GTA, launched The Year of Return, Ghana 2019 initiative to celebrate the cumulative resilience of all the victims of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade who were scattered and displaced through the world in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. The initiative invited and welcomed scores of Africans from the diaspora, inspiring knowledge sharing, recreation, relocations, and commerce, among other things. The year after, Beyond the Return commenced.
