Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organisation which provides support for burns survivors, has disclosed on Facebook veteran actor Mawuli Yao Semevo has been involved in a fire accident.

According to a Graphic Showbiz report, the accident happened Friday night at an Adenta SNNIT Flats Block 61 apartment where Mr Semevo lived on the fourth floor, and when he collapsed after escaping through the fire burning in his living room, he was rushed to hospital by neighbours who witnessed the incident.

Miss Judith Cato Addison of Beyond Burns International, said on Facebook, “Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in severe fire accident. I came here to see him and his life is hanging in the balance.

"He has suffered burns up to 44% of his body. He has respiratory injuries and cannot breathe properly. This is very serious. From his head to his legs. Everywhere caught fire and he has lost all his hair."

Beyond Burns International sought public assistance for the movie and theatre star’s medical care. So did veteran actress Edinam Atasti, who described Semevo's condition as "severe" on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

"The name on the account [0538408020] is Comfort Bawuah Sam. Do add your name so that we can duly acknowledge you. Thank you as you duly support our brother. God bless you," she urged, noting Mr Semevo was "stable, and receiving medical attention at the Ridge Hospital".
