Kellyrae crowned winner of Big Brother Naija Season 9 in emotional finale

The highly anticipated finale of Big Brother Naija Season 9 was an emotional and intense affair, culminating in the crowning of Kellyrae as the season's winner.
After ten weeks of competition in Biggie's house, Kellyrae triumphed over 27 contestants, including his wife, Kassia, to claim the coveted title.
The finale kicked off with heartfelt tributes from Big Brother to the top eight housemates: “In the face of many obstacles, you didn’t lose your determination or ambition.
Finalists, you no loose guard.”
As the last man standing in a thrilling two-hour event, an emotional Kellyrae, who initially entered the show as one half of the duo DoubleKay with his then-secret wife Kassia, expressed his surprise at reaching the final two.
Speaking to host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and an enthusiastic live studio audience, he remarked, “You told us that no couple actually makes it far, so I’m happy that my wife and I have broken one record.
Secondly, there are other records to be broken… Having to say that your wife is your friend was the biggest lie I told in my life.”
The runner-up for Season 9 was Wanni, who also expressed her gratitude for making it to the finale.
“I’m still grateful. I’ve accomplished everything I came to do on this show.
Wanni x Handi are taking over the world.
Let’s go. It’s money, baby,” she said, emphasizing her excitement about future endeavours.
Kellyrae defeated six other finalists—Sooj, Anita, Ozee, Nelly, Victoria, and Onyeka—to walk away with an impressive prize package valued at $10,000, including cash and a car.
The finale featured a co-hosting arrangement, with Ebuka joined by Toke Makinwa, the host of Big Brother Naija: The Buzz on Showmax, who broadcast live from a fan park.
The energy was high, with former housemates from the season and past seasons making special appearances, alongside live performances from artists Joeboy and Qing Madi.
The season began with 28 housemates in 14 pairs, but a shocking twist midway through saw the pairs split. While some contestants struggled to adapt to the change, others flourished and made it to the finale.
As the finale progressed, the eight finalists were eliminated one by one, with Sooj being the first to exit.
He expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m thankful for the journey.
I feel like a winner. I feel like a champion.”
Kellyrae’s victory marks a significant milestone in the history of Big Brother Naija, showcasing the resilience and determination of contestants amidst the challenges of the game.
