‘I still will not forget where I came from’ – MP, Dep. Agric. Minister-designate Dumelo promises creatives

Actor, farmer and politician John Setor Dumelo has promised creatives he will advocate for them even though that is not his primary duty as Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, and Deputy Minister-designate for Food & Agriculture.
His first speech after his historic political victory in 2024, respected creative spoke at the launch of “my sister” Celestine Donkor’s 11th Celestial Praiz programme, February 6, 2025, at Tang Palace Hotel, Roman Ridge, Accra.
“Despite the fact that I am an MP now and I am in the Agric Ministry, I still will not forget where I came from which is the arts sector and I will always be an arts person, I will always be a creative person, and if we don’t develop our own who else will develop it for us,” he said.
He intimated his being at the event signaled he would be available to support the creative arts industry and its endeavours.
Additionally, Dumelo underlined the contributions creative arts made to Ghana’s economy, bemoaning the disregard creatives sometimes suffer.
