Maradona Adjei Yeboah, alias Guru NKZ, has shared a document indicating his team is challenging the University of Ghana (UG) Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Vetting Committee for disqualifying him from the UG-SRC presidential race.

Guru NKZ was disqualified because, per UG-SRC constitution, he was not eligible to run for office being a nonresident student of the prestigious institution.

According to a statement signed by the rapper and entrepreneur and his running mate Jeffery Adu-Yeboah (Jay-Lit), on August 19, 2024, they “formally filled a petition against the SRC Electoral Commission’s decision to disqualify” them.

The statement said: “This petition has been lodged with the Electoral Commission and the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs” of UG, Legon.

“Additionally,” it went on, “our legal team has submitted an interim injunction to the Judicial Board, requesting a temporary halt to the electoral process until a proper hearing and ruling can be made”.

“We shall ensure that there is no discrimination towards any student, whether resident or non-resident, able or with special needs, first Degree or PFD, Local or International, Korle-Bu, City Campus or Distance education, including all the Regional Learning Centers across the length and breadth of the country.

“We have full confidence and trust in the integrity of the Judicial Board and believe that they will grant us a fair hearing, leading to a just outcome,” team Maradona and Jay Lit, alias Maralit 2024, said.

Thanking followers for their “unwavering support,” team Maralit assured: “Together, we shall manifest the interests of all students, building the SRC with everyone for everyone.” May be an image of text

In an exclusive interview with Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital, Saturday, August 17, chief spokesperson for Maralit 2024 Andy Asante Okyere Mensah said Guru and Jay Lit were being sabotaged by the SRC and student body and were investigating the matter. He also hinted at the legal action above.
