Entrepreneur and journalist Afua Asantewaa has announced a second attempt for the Guinness World Record (GWR) singing marathon (sing-a-thon) title.

According to an official flyer, the public event will begin on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

A venue and the targeted hours are yet to be communicated.

For her first attempt at Akwaaba Village, Accra, Afua Asantewaa sang for five days beginning Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Though a valiant adventure, receiving national attention, Mrs Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum failed to break the 105-hour GWR sing-a-thon record set in 2012.

“Afua Asantewaa’s singathon attempt was not successful due to guidelines around rest break timings not being met. These rules are standard across all of our ‘longest marathon’ records,” PR Executive for the Guinness World Records Alina Polianskaya revealed.

The London-based GWR, on X, also, remarked: “We've seen how inspirational it has been for her fans…We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts."

Despite her failure to break the record, Afua Asantewaa was appointed a tourism ambassador by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
