Funny Face: Asamoah Gyan appeals for funds, support for embattled comic star
Sports and creative arts star Asamoah Gyan has appealed to the public for support for "my brother" Funny Face, born Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng.
In a video on Funny Face's verified X account, while in his living room, he remarked there were kind people who, even though “you’ve made some mistakes,” reach out to say, “My brother, you’ve fallen, you’re going down the well, let me help you rise.”
The epitome of such kindheartedness, Funny Face pointed out, “is legendary Asamoah Gyan”.
The camera panned right to show Gyan, a former Black Stars captain, seated by the TV and comic star.
The African Girls hitmaker, nicknamed Baby Jet, said his visit was inspired by a hunch to check on Funny Face. Thus, after phoning him, he visited.
“We’re here to support a brother. In life, you never know who’s going to come to your aid.
“I woke up in the morning – I felt it and I was [said to myself]: ‘Hey, let me call this bro.
“So I just called him and here we are now.
“He’s in good condition.
“We thank you for your support. It’s not over yet. Anything you can do to support my brother, just do it,” Asamoah Gyan said.
Furthermore, Gyan presented GHS1,000.00 gift to Funny Face.
In a Facebook post on January 20, 2024, Funny Face expressed helplessness and regret for his current financial standing and "bad choices" which, by his admission, "has cost me".
According to actor nicknamed The Children's President, some individuals were sabotaging his ambassadorial deals, and worsening his financial plight.
He hinted at slacking at his fatherly duties, and revealed he had not gathered the courage to go see his children, who are with their mother, because "I'm broke".
Despite his predicament, Funny Face proclaimed his faith in "the LORD," confident that "He will come through for me".
“Charley, man made some bad choices, and it has cost me.
"If you won't help me, please just don't destroy me to other companies who want to use me for ambassadorial deals, so I can gradually gather some money small small to go see my daughters. It's not that I don't want to see them, but Charlie, I'm broke. My everything spoil.
“Please stop destroying me to companies!!! WE LIVE WE LEARN!! A situation that has caused me everything!! My hope is built on the LORD... and I know HE will come through for me… so allow me, so I can hustle and gather money small to go see my daughters… As for baby Kimberlyn, she turned 3 years on the 24th NOVEMBER… she has never seen me before!! Hmmm life," Funny Face wrote.
Funny Face's triplets with Vanessa Nicole will be 5-years-old in May, while the last child, Kimberlyn, will be four in November.
