Diana Hamilton has pushed back on the criticism of her fashion choices.

Guesting on Ayekoo Ayekoo on Accra 100.5 FM, host Nana Romeo brought to the Gospel star’s attention a message from an audience member who took issue with her wearing of wigs and makeup, noting they were not natural.

In response, Diana Hamilton wondered if what the critic was wearing was made of natural or synthetic materials.

“Ask them if what they are wearing is also natural,” she said, breaking into a hearty laughter.

“Tell them the hair is mine. I bought it with my own money.”

The Adom (Grace) hitmaker reacted to teachings in some Christian circles against cosmetics, too, noting Christianity allowed some freedoms and diversity of opinion.

“Everyone has their own understanding of the Word of God [the Bible],” she said, adding: “We have levels of faith. It depends on your level of faith and maturity.  

“I won’t beat anyone down for having a contrary opinion. It’s an opinion and when you form one, you need someone to educate you out of it.

“But if we see it won’t kill you, we let you live with that opinion.”

The multiple award-winning singer said more important than any controversy is “your personal relationship with God”.

Additionally, she urged believers to exercise their freedoms wisely, being sensitive to their fellows who might not share their convictions so as not to become “a stumbling block”.

Concluding, the Ghanaian UK-based nurse made an argument for enhancing one’s beauty, intimating it was a matter of good stewardship of one's body.

She recalled observing how picturesque Vancouver was surrounded by majestic mountains, as she once landed there, proving “the artistic nature of God, and how God appreciates beautiful things”.

“I went to Turks and Caicos – it’s an island with turquoise water, and not sea blue. It was such a stunning beauty. Elsewhere, you see two waters meet, one which is sea blue and the other turquoise. These all display the wonders of God’s creative work. And when he gives you something, he wants you to take good care of it,” the 2021 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year went on.

“The bottom line is to glorify him with everything we do, and to bring glory to the work we do for him. This is what’s most important.”
