Tema port truck drivers to embark on strike over safety concerns today
Truck drivers at the Tema port have declared their intention to begin a sit-down strike.
The strike which begins today, Monday, 6 May, 2024, is to highlight their pressing safety concerns.
In a notice, the truck drivers are demanding immediate action against “Attacks by armed robbers, Harrassement by personnel in uniform, Demands for illicit payments” and “Unlawful detention and abuse.”
The notice added that: “Effective Monday 6th May, 2024 NO TRUCK MOVES at the ports of Ghana.”
The drivers also revealed they would hold a press conference later today.
