Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, has voiced strong concerns over the approval of a $750,000 electronic servicing agreement by the Board of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), describing the move as “reckless and unpatriotic.”

In a social media post, Mr. Ablakwa alleged that the contract, approved just three days ago, was signed under dubious circumstances.

“Deep throat sources at ADB tell me they are under extreme political pressure to effect full payment by 27th of December, 2024,” he revealed.

The MP claimed that senior ADB officials are baffled by the Board’s decision, as the agreement bypassed the bank’s audit department and negotiations with the vendor, Virtual Security Africa, are yet to be finalized.

According to him, the main agreement remains in draft form.

“The mad rush for midnight contracts and payments has reached uncontrollable levels despite a clear caution from the President-elect’s Transition Team — a caution consistent with what the NPP demanded in 2016,” Mr. Ablakwa remarked.

The lawmaker, who chairs the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, disclosed that he has intercepted numerous internal memos related to questionable financial transactions.

He warned public officials against yielding to political pressure to authorize payments, cautioning that they will face consequences after January 7, 2025.

This development has intensified scrutiny of last-minute contractual decisions by public institutions during the transition period.
