NYA to implement NDC's National Apprenticeship Programme

The National Youth Authority (NYA) has been tasked with the implementation of the National Apprenticeship Programme, an initiative aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with practical skills for employment.
The programme was officially launched on Wednesday, March 19, by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, at the Ministry’s premises.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to address youth unemployment through vocational training and skills development.
As part of the implementation process, a Technical Working Committee has been inaugurated to oversee the programme’s execution.
The committee is chaired by the CEO of the NYA, Osman Ayariga, who has pledged to ensure its success.
“The National Apprenticeship Programme presents a unique opportunity to empower our youth with the skills they need to secure meaningful employment. We are committed to making this initiative a success,” Mr Ayariga stated.
During the launch, Minister Opare Addo emphasised the significance of the programme in transforming the nation’s workforce.
“This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing hands-on training in various trades.
With the NYA leading its implementation, we are confident that the programme will have a lasting impact on youth empowerment,” he said.
The National Apprenticeship Programme will be rolled out in collaboration with key stakeholders, including industry experts, vocational training institutions, and government agencies.
The government has assured that adequate resources and support will be provided to ensure its smooth execution, ultimately equipping thousands of young Ghanaians with skills for sustainable livelihoods.
