NPA corrects misrepresentation of Communications Head’s statement on CRM
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has responded to a recent publication misrepresenting statements made by its Head of Communications, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Kudus, regarding the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM).
The publication inaccurately suggested that Mr. Abdul-Kudus claimed the CRM would eliminate cheating at LPG filling stations.
The NPA clarified that during an interview on an Accra-based radio station, Mr. Abdul-Kudus addressed customer concerns about the integrity of filled cylinders under the CRM.
He explained that the process of filling cylinders under the CRM is automated at bottling plants, ensuring customers receive the correct quantity of LPG at exchange points.
He also reassured customers that scales would be available at these points for those who wish to verify the weight of their cylinders.
The NPA gave this correction in a statement dated August 22, 2024 and signed by the Corporate Affairs Directorate in reaction to a publication with the headline: ‘Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) will eliminate cheating at gas filling stations’’
The original media outlet that conducted the interview accurately reflected these remarks in their headline, "NPA Allays Fears of Gas Cheating Under Cylinder Recirculation Model." However, a subsequent publication misrepresented the content, leading to confusion.
The NPA has since contacted the media house responsible for the erroneous headline, requesting a correction to align with Mr. Abdul-Kudus’s actual comments.
The Authority emphasized its commitment to fairness within Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry, ensuring that its regulatory actions do not antagonize or harm the reputation of any industry player.
The NPA remains dedicated to protecting customer interests and addressing their concerns
