Mobile money agents restrict cashouts to GHS1,000 maximum per transaction
Four mobile money agents associations have decided to limit cashouts to GHS1,000 maximum per transaction as part of their effort to "ensure fair compensation for dedicated agents".
The decision was communicated in a joint statement issued by four associations: Northern MoMo Agents Association of Ghana (NOMAAG), the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MOMAG), the Mobile Money Agents Association Ghana (MMAAG), and ABAG.
"We wish to bring to your attention an important decision from the leadership of the four mobile money agents associations in Ghana. Effective 1st December 2023, a temporary measure will be implemented, restricting cash withdrawals to a maximum of GHS1,000.00 per transaction to customers for all mobile money agents across various service providers", the joint statement said.
"Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for the dedicated agents. During this period, we will continue to actively engage with service providers to address the commission review concerns raised", they explained.
"If, within the one-month period, there is no favourable adjustment, we will regrettably have to implement further action plans".
"We urge you to join us in mobilising support for fair compensation to mobile money agents".
"Your cooperation and solidarity are pivotal in ensuring the sustainability of mobile money services in Ghana".
