MTN MoMo customers to use valid IDs to withdraw cash from April 2
All MoMo customers will be required to present valid ID cards before any MoMo cashout (withdrawal) transaction can be processed effective, 2nd April 2021, MTN Ghana has said.
The new directive is to safeguard funds and be sure customers are the owner of the wallet at the agent point doing the withdrawal or cash out.
It is also in fulfilment of the regulatory requirement.
Customers are supposed to submit a physical copy of a valid Ghana Card, Driver’s License, Passport, voter's ID, SSNIT ID or NHIS card.
A statement issued by MTN containing the document noted that the telecommunication network does not encourage Proxy, “therefore you cannot give your ID card and phone to someone to cash out on your behalf”.
