Independent non-executive director of AngloGold Ashanti resigns
AngloGold Ashanti plc has announced that Scott Lawson has resigned as an independent non-executive director of the Company with effect from 15 October 2024.
In a statement, the South African miner said Mr. Lawson has made an “important contribution to the Company during his tenure, bringing to bear his significant experience in the industry. “
“The Board offers him its sincere thanks and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.”
AngloGold Ashanti is a global gold mining company with a diverse, high-quality portfolio of operations, projects and exploration activities across nine countries on four continents.
In 2023, it produced 2.635Moz of gold, its principal product, and employed an average of 33,658 people including contractors.
As of 31 December 2023, it reported a total gold Measured and Indicated Mineral Resource of 59.9 Moz, a gold Inferred Mineral Resource of 46.4Moz and a total gold Mineral Reserve of 28.1Moz.
The Company is listed on the New York, Johannesburg and Ghana stock exchanges
It has geographically diverse shareholders including the world’s largest financial institutions.
The company has a market capitalisation of $7.8bn as of 31 December 2023. It was $8.1 billion in 2022.
The company is included in the JSE Top 40 Index, the S&P Global CSA, the FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index Series (the FTSE4Good Index), the Responsible Mining Index and the Bloomberg 2023 Gender-Equality Index.
