Gov’t transferred GHS519m to 8 subvented agencies in 2018; GBC received GHS25m but spent GHS40m

The government of Ghana transferred an amount of GHS519.00 million to eight subvented agencies in 2018, the 2018 State Ownership Report has disclosed.
The institutions include Ghana Broadcasting Authority, Ghana Highways Authority, the Ghana News Agency; and the Community, Water and Sanitation Agency.
The amount represented 31.17% of the budgeted amount (GHS395.64 million).
According to the report, the 2018 outturn of GHS392.97 million represents a significant increase of 106.50% and 182.88% over 2017 and 2016 figures of GHS190.30 million and GHS138.92 million, respectively.
The Ghana Highways Authority received the highest amount of GHS358 million though it spent GHS262 million.
GBC received GHS25.61 million but spent GHS40.11 million, whilst GNA received GHS5.03 million but spent GHS4.75 million.
The Ghana Metrological Service received GHS11.68 million and spent GHS9.67 million.
