Ghana’s economy continued to rebound, exceeding initial expectations, Bank of Ghana Governor Johnson Asiama has said.

Briefing journalists on Friday, 28 March 2025, following the 123rd regular meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) held in the week to assess recent economic developments and risks to the inflation outlook, Dr Asiama said provisional data from the Ghana Statistical Service estimated real GDP growth at 5.7 per cent in 2024, higher than the programmed growth rate of 4.0 per cent for 2024.

It also surpassed the 3.1 per cent recorded in 2023.

Dr Asiama reported to journalists that the non-oil GDP grew at 6.0 percent, compared with 3.6 percent recorded in 2023.

He said the growth outturn in 2024 was driven by activities in the Industry and Services sectors.

However, growth in the agricultural sector was “slower, driven by lower crop yield due to adverse weather conditions, among other factors.”
