A/R: GNPC trains 315 youth under skilled artisans programme
A total of 315 young people from the Ashanti Region are currently undergoing skills training as part of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation's (GNPC) Skilled Artisans Programme.
This initiative, which involves 2,135 participants nationwide, is a collaboration between GNPC, the Aseda Foundation, and the government, aimed at reducing unemployment in Ghana.
The participants are being trained in various trades, including dressmaking, hairdressing, makeup, tailoring, welding, shoemaking, and masonry, among others.
The training is designed to equip the youth with practical skills for the job market.
Speaking after practical examinations in the Oforikrom Municipality, Moses Antwi Benefo, GNPC’s Principal Public Relations Officer, highlighted that all beneficiaries will receive startup tools related to their specific trades to help them establish their own businesses.
GNPC has set a goal to empower 10,000 Ghanaians by 2030 through this skills development initiative, with the aim of strengthening the nation's informal sector and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
