Eric Edem Agbana: Ketu North MP engages Chinese Embassy to explore collaborative strategies for unlocking Ketu North dev’t potential

Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, on Friday, 25th April 2025, engaged the Chinese Embassy to explore collaborative strategies aimed at unlocking the development potential of Ketu North.
He led a high-powered delegation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Accra, where he engaged in a strategic meeting with Tong Defa, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, and his diplomatic team.
The delegation, which included the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu North, Martin Amenaki, and representatives from farmer-based organisations, focused on building strong bilateral cooperation to drive progress in agriculture, education, and commerce within the constituency.
During the meeting, both parties explored collaborative strategies and ideas aimed at unlocking the development potential of Ketu North.
Among the key areas discussed included: Vocational and technical training opportunities in China for skilled individuals from Ketu North to enhance local capacity and rapid development.
The fortunes of agro-technological investments to modernise agricultural practices and improve productivity within the municipality and make it a hub of economic growth through Agro-technology.
Educational partnerships designed to strengthen STEM education and vocational training infrastructure, with a special focus on securing annual scholarships for students to pursue studies in China.
However, the Chinese Embassy made a profound commitment, indicating the initiation of a pilot vocational training program and the commencement of a feasibility study to assess the suitability of targeted area for agro-technology interventions in Ketu North.
Meanwhile, Agbana emphasised Ketu North’s strategic appeal to potential investors, citing the municipality’s fertile arable land, youthful workforce, and its leadership’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for innovation and growth.
“This engagement marks a pivotal step in our ongoing agenda to transform Ketu North into a hub for agricultural excellence and technical skills development,” he emphasised.
The diplomatic dialogue reflects growing momentum behind efforts to attract international partnerships that align with the district’s long-term development goals to bring accelerated development and job opportunities.
