Medikal 'calm' and 'can't wait' to execute Indigo 02 show Friday May 3
Medikal has asserted his preparedness to wow fans, ahead of his debut concert in the United Kingdom.
The Ghanaian rapper is playing the Indigo 02 arena on Friday, May 3, 2024.
In an exclusive interview with Kwame Asante of the Voice of America (VOA), the Afrobeats and Hiplife star noted he has “lots of fans in London” and the time was right to treat them to a show curated by him.
He observed because of “Afrobeats, Hiphop, Hiplife, Highlife, we have numerous fans here, not just Ghanaians but Nigerians” and many others.
The Omo Ada hitmaker highlighted he has “been to America” to perform “countless times” and “I just feel like London also deserves a live performance from me”.
Supporting Medikal, born Samuel Adu Frimpong, on the momentous day will be Ghanaian bigwigs like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Efya, Joey B, and Kwesi Arthur, among others.
“I’ve got songs with each and everyone of these artistes so I want them [fans] to have a live feel of their performance… It’d be as though you were watching a music video of us on stage," he projected, maintaining his Pidgin.
Kwame, often called Mr Asante, wondered if Medikal had cold feet ahead of his first-ever London performance.
“I’m actually not nervous, you know. I’m not nervous. I’m calm. I just can’t wait to see it happen,” the award-winning rapper said nonchalantly behind his dark glasses and hoodie. “But I’m not nervous. I’m very calm, very chill, yeah.”
In 2022, the 2,750-capacity Indigo 02 saw a joint performance from Ghanaian Afrobeats star KiDi and Kuami Eugene.
