President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, paid a solidarity visit to the Class Media Group (CMG) on Wednesday, 1 May 2024, following the recent petrol bombing incident at their headquarters at the plush Labone area in the Greater Accra Region.

Last Thursday, four unidentified individuals riding motorbikes attempted to petrol bomb the CMG building, but their efforts were thwarted by the durable glass installation at the entrance.

Accompanied by a 6-member delegation, the GJA President visited CMG to gather firsthand information about the incident and to express solidarity with the management and staff of the media group, which includes Class FM, CTV, Number One FM and Accra FM.

Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Mr Theodore Edwards, the Group Chief Operations Officer (COO), who briefed them on the details of the incident and shared Closed Circuit Television footage showing how the assailants carried out the attack.

The bombing occurred around 2:00 am when most staff had already left for the day.

Mr. Edwards informed the delegation that the incident had been reported to the Cantonment Divisional police station and expressed gratitude for the visit, particularly on a holiday.

He also thanked the Korean International Co-operation Agency (KOICA), whose CCTV footage helped reveal the modus operandi of the assailants.

In response, President Dwumfour condemned the attack and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the perpetrators.

He also emphasized the importance of CMG prioritizing security, especially with elections approaching, and encouraged tighter security measures for media houses.

The delegation included Mr. Kobby Asmah, a member of the National Media Commission, Mr. Michael Petit Mawugbe, Executive Secretary to the President, Mr. Vance Azu, a Veteran Journalist, as well as Roland Acquah Stevens and Mohammed Alhassan, both members of the GJA
