GNPC F’dn to provide skills training opportunities for youth in all 16 regions
The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), in collaboration with the Council for Technical, Vocational Education and Training, has embarked on a mission to empower the youth through various skills training programmes such as hairdressing, fashion designing, welding, and more.
Under the leadership of Mr Dominic Kwasi Eduah, Chief Executive Officer of the GNPC Foundation, over 2,500 individuals have already undergone training, with plans to train even more in the future.
Mr Eduah emphasised the foundation's commitment to providing skill-building opportunities for the youth across all 16 regions of Ghana.
“Although currently only six regions have been reached, efforts are underway to expand the programme nationwide,” he assured.
Initially, only a small percentage of individuals benefited from the training, but Mr Eduah highlighted that the demand has increased significantly since, with more applicants seeking access to TVET training.
Mr John Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister for Education, encouraged Ghanaians of all ages to prioritise education and pursue their dreams.
He emphasised the skills acquired through such training programmes will empower the youth to become self-sufficient in the future, reducing the burden on the government.
For her part, Madam Mary Fosua, a beneficiary of the dressmaking training, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to acquire valuable skills through TVET.
She shared her positive experience and highlighted the distribution of equipment to successful trainees, emphasizing the practical support provided to help them establish themselves in their chosen fields.
