KATH doctors strike over accommodation challenges
The Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti region have declared a strike effective tomorrow, 13 March 2024, over accommodation challenges.
About 20 of the doctors and other health workers are facing eviction from the bungalow they occupy at Danyame which is very close to the hospital.
According to them, they have been given an eviction notice to vacate the residential apartment within one week by a private developer.
The aggrieved Doctors at an emergency meeting today at KATH resolved to lay down their tools, effective tomorrow to search for accommodation.
The Chairman of the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA), Dr Michael Leat said they will return to work after they have had accommodation.
During the strike, he said, they will only attend to patients on admission and no new cases will be attended.
