Adomaa: Singer-turned-actress makes theatre debut as Aku Sika in Prof Martin Owusu’s epic literary work
Adomaa Adjeman, popularly called Adomaa, is ready to make her theatre debut.
The singer-songwriter and actress is taking on the lead character of Prof Martin Owusu’s The Legend of Aku Sika as her latest adventure, away from the silver screen and microphone.
On the subject of debuts, the production will also mark the first time movie, theatre and media star Naa Ashorkor takes on directing duties.

A joint project by Image Bureau, April Communications, and the National Theatre, the art piece will be showcased on June 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2024, at the National Theatre, Accra, honouring Prof Martin Owusu.

The Legend of Aku Sika captures the story of a disabled girl in search of love, wandering in the maze of destiny.
Meanwhile, Adomaa, as a singer has worked with music titans likes M.anifest, Efya, EL, and Stonebwoy. On screen, she is famous for playing Dede, the lead act in Shirley Frimpong-Manso's latest TV hit.
Prof Martin Okyere Owusu, 81, is a living legend of acclaimed playwright, acting and directing deeds. He is the author of books such as The Legend of Aku Sika, Sudden Return, and The Story Ananse Told, among others.
In 1963, the Mfantsipim Senior High School alumnus was one of 12 students to first take the Drama & Theatre programme at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he currently lecturers as drama professor.
